Manual Handling Training Course
City & Guilds Qualified Trainers
Half day course (3 Hours)
Carried out by qualified personnel the Manual Handling Training course is designed to cover a number of Manual Handling topics and to enable the student on completion to recognise a manual handling problem, initiate a risk assessment and lift/carry in a safe manner..
The course will include the following areas:
- The requirements of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992.
- The legal requirements to provide Manual Handling Training.
- Principles of good movement.
- The anatomy of the spine.
- Practical exercises.
- Principles of manual handling techniques which will include:
· The task.
· The load.
· The working environment..
· The individual capability.
· Practical applications of lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying.
· Risk Assessment and its practical application.
Maximum of 10 Candidates per Manual Handling training course and can run two courses per day with one manual handling instructor however more manual handling instructors are available should it be required.

The course information is based on the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, amended 2002. In addition, these regulations implement European Directive 90/269/EEC and also covered under the Health and Satety at Work Act 1974.
